Membership Capacity

The clubs current capacity is a maximum of 35 members, but even when full we maintain a waiting list of 5 additional people. If you are interested in joining and would like more information about the club (and if there are any openings) please feel free to review the membership information on this page, email us for more information, or come to a meeting which are held on the first Friday of each month. Please visit our contact page for directions to club meetings, the field, and the different ways you can contact the Eagles.

Membership Process
We strongly encourage those interested in joining the Long Island Flying Eagles to review all of the documents listed under the Important Documents heading below before proceeding with the application process. In addition all members and applicants must have a current and valid Model Airplane Sporting License issued by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). For more information about the AMA please visit

  1. Read and review the documents under the Important Documents heading below.
  2. Fill out the Membership Application Form
  3. Bring your Membership Application Form to a club meeting. Dates, times, and directions for club meetings will be announced on our home page as well as our Visit/Contact Us page.
  4. Secure a sponsor for your membership. A sponsor must be a regular member in good standing with the club.
  5. At the time your application is accepted new members must pay a one-time initiation fee of $50.00 as well as the Annual Dues of $150.00 ($35.00 for those under the age of 19). Please see the club Bylaws regarding prorated dues for those joining after June1st.
  6. Upon acceptance of an offer of membership the applicant will be granted probationary membership for a period of 12 months.
  7. Pilot qualification is required for all incoming members. Please review the Pilot Qualification Requirements for more information about receiving your qualification. Flight training with certified club instructors is available for new pilots!
